Reaction to Do the Right Thing

While reading the Do the Right Thing script, I pictured things in my head in a certain way. When I read, I imagined characters saying things in different tones or ways that they did in the movie. The use of camera angles, tone, and music in some scenes was much different than I expected. A specific scene that was very different then I expected was the scene between Mookie and Pino. Mookie says, "Pino, fuck you, fuck your fucking pizza and fuck Frank Sinatra." Pino replies to Mookie saying, "Yeah? Well, fuck you, too, and fuck Michael Jackson". When I read this, I imagine an aggressive tone of voice to go along with the belligerent words being said. I was shocked when this scene happened in the movie because it was completely different than I pictures. Pino and Mookie in the movie and leaning against a table, speaking softly, with calm music in the background. This confused me when I saw it. Perhaps there was a reason for the calm tone and music, but it was unexpected. It was also unexpected to see the interesting use of camera angles in the movie. I think the fact it is filmed in a way where it zooms in on characters face and angles change often make it more intense and play into the theme of everyone being on edge. Overall I think that the movie is different than I expected, but I think it is doing a good job at making the viewers feel the tension in the community.
